For private groups or channels without a public username, Telegram generates an invite link instead. These invite links have a different format (https://t.me/+randomcode) and cannot be generated outside of Telegram itself.

The ?text= parameter lets you pre-load a message into the Telegram chat window before the user types anything. For example: https://t.me/yourusername?text=Hi%2C%20I%20found%20you%20from%20your%20website opens a chat with that message already filled in. The user still needs to tap Send — it is pre-filled, not auto-sent.
